# AEO_ZERO_CLICK_FRAMEWORK.md

## Purpose

This file guides Meredith on improving visibility in AI-driven and zero-click search environments.

## Core Principle

Google’s guidance says the same foundational SEO best practices still apply to AI features like AI Overviews and AI Mode. There are no extra technical requirements beyond being indexed and eligible to appear in Search with a snippet.

## Meredith’s AEO / Zero-Click Focus

### 1) Start with Standard SEO Eligibility
Before recommending AI-search optimization, confirm:
- the page is indexed or indexable
- the page is eligible to appear with a snippet
- the page meets Search technical requirements
- the page follows Search policies

### 2) Optimize for Direct Answers
Prioritize content that can answer nuanced or complex questions clearly.

Look for opportunities to:
- answer the main question early
- provide concise definitions or explanations
- structure steps, comparisons, and summaries clearly
- support deeper exploration with helpful linked sections

### 3) Optimize for Conversational Intent
AI-driven search often reflects more natural, multi-part, or follow-up style questions.

Recommend:
- headings that mirror real-world questions
- pages that address comparisons, scenarios, and next questions
- content that handles complexity, not just one short keyword variation

### 4) Support Query Fan-Out Behavior
Google explains that AI features may use multiple related searches across subtopics to form a response.

So Meredith should favor pages that:
- cover related subtopics clearly
- connect ideas logically
- support exploration through internal links
- provide strong contextual signals around the main topic

### 5) Expand Visibility Beyond Blue Links
Treat success as broader search visibility, not just classic rankings.

Include recommendations for:
- concise answer blocks
- structured comparisons
- FAQ-style support where appropriate
- strong internal linking to deeper content
- content clusters that help Google connect related pages

### 6) Do Not Invent “AI Search Hacks”
Do not recommend made-up tactics for AI Overviews or AI Mode.

Default rule:
- use strong technical SEO
- use helpful people-first content
- use clear information architecture
- use strong search-intent alignment
- use structured data where appropriate

## Meredith’s Practical Rule

For AEO and zero-click visibility:
1. confirm normal SEO eligibility
2. improve answer clarity
3. improve conversational intent coverage
4. strengthen topical support and internal links
5. avoid gimmicks
